Installation Expectations.
Timber Frame Solutions ships pre-cut, pre-fit heavy timber kits — palletized, labeled, and ready to raise. Most kits are installed by the customer's local contractor, builder, or capable crew unless installation is separately arranged with us. This page covers what to plan for so the raising goes smoothly.
Before your kit arrives
A few items handled in advance keep delivery day and raising day on schedule.
- Confirm site access for a flatbed or step-deck delivery truck.
- Complete footings and foundation work as required by your drawings.
- Review drawings, renderings, and the post layout sketch with your crew.
- Arrange unloading equipment (telehandler, forklift, or skid steer with forks).
- Confirm local crew or contractor availability for the raise date.
- Store materials properly — flat, off the ground, and covered — if not installing immediately.
Typical crew and equipment
Needs vary by structure size and complexity. Many projects require:
- 2–4+ capable workers experienced with framing.
- Telehandler, forklift, skid steer forks, or other lifting equipment sized to the largest beam or truss.
- Standard carpentry tools — impact drivers, drills, levels, squares, hammers, and saws.
- Ladders, lifts, and fall-protection where applicable.
