Logistics Guide

Freight & Offload Checklist.

Every Timber Frame Solutions kit is palletized in our Henderson, TN shop and shipped by freight carrier. We coordinate the shipment, confirm contacts, and stage the load — but the receiving site needs the right equipment, access, and people in place to offload safely. Use this checklist to plan ahead.

01 · Access

Delivery access

Most TFS freight arrives on a flatbed or step-deck. Confirm the truck can physically reach the drop point.

  • Confirm the delivery address is correct, including suite or lot number.
  • Confirm a freight truck can access the delivery location.
  • Identify any low bridges, narrow roads, steep drives, gates, or restricted access in advance.
  • Provide a reliable delivery contact who can be on-site to receive the load.
02 · Equipment

Offload equipment

Customers are responsible for offload equipment sized to the shipment. Options vary by kit size and timber length.

  • Forklift sized to the heaviest pallet.
  • Telehandler for long timbers or extended reach.
  • Skid steer with forks for smaller kits.
  • Tractor with forks where appropriate.
  • Other suitable lifting equipment based on shipment size and weight.
  • Qualified operator on site at the scheduled delivery window.
03 · Site Prep

Site preparation

  • Flat, level staging area for the pallets.
  • Clear access path from the truck to the staging area.
  • Safe unloading area free of overhead hazards.
  • Protection from mud, standing water, and traffic.
  • Tarp or covered storage if the kit will not be installed immediately.
04 · Receiving

Receiving the shipment

A quick inspection at delivery protects your project and any future claim with the carrier.

  • Inspect the shipment before signing the delivery receipt.
  • Note any visible damage on the carrier's paperwork at the time of delivery.
  • Take clear photos of any damage or short shipment.
  • Confirm the pallet count against the packing list.
  • Contact TFS promptly with any concerns — within seven days of delivery.
05 · Storage

Storage before installation

Heavy timber is a natural material. Short-term storage that allows airflow keeps the kit ready to raise.

  • Keep timbers elevated off the ground on dunnage or stickers.
  • Allow airflow between layers — do not seal the stack.
  • Avoid trapping moisture under plastic.
  • Protect from standing water and direct ground contact.
  • Keep hardware, plates, and small parts organized and labeled.
Important Note

General guidance only.

This checklist is general guidance. Site conditions, equipment requirements, and carrier procedures vary by project. Final delivery instructions, hardware schedules, and any stamped engineering provided with your order take precedence.
